Nature of the work.

Plan.Heritage were commissioned by the Auckland Council Auckland Design Office to provide an archaeological assessment of a planned upgrade to Freyberg Place. This area became the municipal core of Auckland shortly after the foundation of the city in 1840. Although desk-based research demonstrated that there had been significant changes, the possibility of finding earlier remains was identified. Plan.Heritage prepared an authority application for modification of an archaeological site as a precautionary measure, and developed an archaeological management plan. We undertook archaeological monitoring of all earthworks and provided final reports.

Key experiences.
Working closely with a range of disciplines, including architects, urban designers, on a highly successful award-winning project.
